What Bookify Does

Bookify is a browser extension that converts web articles into e-book format (EPUB) and sends them to your Kindle device via email.

Data Bookify Accesses

Page content — When you click the Bookify icon, the extension reads the content of the current web page (article text, images, title, author) to create an e-book. This content is processed entirely within your browser and is not sent to any external server, except as described below.

Google Gemini API — If you provide a Gemini API key, the article title and a brief excerpt are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a book cover image. No other page content is sent. This communication is between your browser and Google's servers directly, governed by Google's API Terms of Service.

Gmail API — Bookify uses the Gmail API (with your explicit authorization) solely to send the generated EPUB file to your Kindle email address. It requests only the gmail.send permission and cannot read, modify, or delete any of your emails.

Data Bookify Stores

Bookify stores the following in your browser's local storage (via Chrome's storage API):

This data never leaves your browser except when used for its stated purpose (sending to Kindle, calling the Gemini API).
